Military Affairs
As early as 1970, a Military Affairs Committee can be documented in the Chamber’s history. The Vice-Chair, along with the committee members, has always worked with the Command Group at Fort Campbell to meet and provide for the families who locate within our community. When the need for housing grew, the builders in the community responded with new housing developments; as the traffic problems grew, the local and Tennessee Department of Transportation responded. Our community makes every effort to maintain a high quality of life for the military families regardless of rank and to incorporate our military families in our local community.
Along with efforts to meet and discuss issues affecting Fort Campbell on a regular basis, the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee supports and hosts events throughout the year to help maintain and grow post and community relations. The annual Godfather Golf Tournament, Command Sergeant Major Reception, and a Veteran’s Day Breakfast are among a few of the events in which our volunteers participate and coordinate. The Military Affairs Committee also supports such programs as Soldier/NCO of the Quarter/Year, Fort Campbell Historical Society, AUSA, etc. In addition, support is provided to military families, especially during deployment cycles.
