Clarksville’s 2010 population was 132,929 – a 28.5% increase from 2000. Montgomery County has grown 27.8% during the same time period, with a 2010 population of 172,331. Both the city and county exceeded their projected growth of 22% and 23% respectively. If the growth that has been seen continues, Clarksville can be projected to surpass the population of Chattanooga. Clarksville is currently the 5th largest city in the state and has the 4th highest per capita personal income in Tennessee.
