The VITA Free Tax Preparation program
The VITA Free Tax Preparation program powered by United Way of Greater Nashville typically provides free face-to-face tax preparation at more than 25 tax sites throughout Middle Tennessee. However, COVID-19 has caused our focus to shift our program so we can now assist taxpayers virtually until tax sites can safely reopen.
VITA will continue serving households that earned $66,000 or less in 2019, by offering virtual tax preparation provided by IRS-certified tax preparers through a secure online portal. All you need to file is a computer or phone that allows you to take pictures of your tax forms, internet access, an email address, and a working phone number so the IRS-certified preparer can work with you virtually to complete your return!
We are committed to providing a secure environment for the protection of your private information. We accomplish this through encryption of the information you provide and ensuring that your data is deleted after your return is successfully e-filed and accepted by the IRS and the VITA program continues to comply with all IRS guidelines and regulations to ensure a successful filing experience.
